FROM THE PUBLISHER

Danni Blair's life feels incomplete. Her career path has chosen her and not vice versa. She toils long hours to make sure she gets publicity for an art gallery, but whatever happened to Danni's dreams? And she's not talking about the ones she used to share with her best friend, chasing the so-called high life. Been there. Done that. It wasn't enough.

And her Detroit Pistons basketball star boyfriend is acting shady. He wants to be known as a great man on the court, yet he can't seem to be a good one for Danni off of it. What's more, the sisterhood that she cherishes with her best friend is feeling strained. Danni just needs for everything to be fine again.

It's time for Danni to reconnect with the love that she abandoned long ago-her art. Maybe it means losing everything she's got in the process, but she embarks on an emotional journey that just might lead back to feeling fulfilled again-and into the arms of the one who loves her.

In the Paint is a breezy and entertaining novel that will awaken the creative spirit in all of us.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Philana Marie Boles has a BFA in creative writing and theater from Bowling Green State University. Prior to the release of her debut novel, Blame It on Eve, she lived in New York City, where she worked in the development office of Spike Lee's 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks and then as an assistant to the director of media relations at Glamour magazine. Besides the blessing of being both a writer and spokenword artist, her favorite gig has been working as a substitute teacher, mentoring youth along the way. Her middle-aged novel will bereleased in the fall.
